- ​Jurisdiction for signs
Signs placed on public roads are under the jurisdiction and responsibility of the respective management entity. In the case of municipal roads, the authority falls upon the City Hall, the authority for national roads is Estradas de Portugal, SA, and on highways, the authority is the respective concessionaire.
- Traffic signs
The signs to be placed on public roads must correspond to those established in the regulation of Traffic signs, approved by Regulatory Decree nº. 22-A/98 of October 1.
Questions relating to road traffic regulations and the interpretation of signs placed on public roads should be addressed in writing to the National Road Safety Authority, Road Prevention Unit, at fax Nº. 354 21 21 29.
